Formula One will keep racing in Barcelona through 2032 after a new agreement ensures the city remains on the calendar in a rotating arrangement with Belgium.

The iconic Spanish Grand Prix has shifted to Madrid’s new Madring circuit, but the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya will still host a renamed Barcelona Catalunya Grand Prix in June 2026 and return for additional races in 2028, 2030 and 2032.

Under the rotation, the Belgian round at the Circuit de Spa Francorchamps will take place in 2026, 2027, 2029 and 2031. The deal puts to rest doubts about Barcelona’s future in the sport after recent upgrades at the venue.

Those improvements include a new rooftop hospitality space overlooking key sections of the track and the installation of solar panels across the facility. First opened in 1991 as part of preparations for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, the circuit has remained a staple of the F1 calendar for decades.

The track has delivered memorable moments, including Max Verstappen’s first Formula One victory in 2016. It continues to draw large crowds, with more than 300,000 fans attending the 2025 race weekend and generating an estimated 300 million euros for the region each time the event is held.
