Bard, Google’s AI chatbot alternative to ChatGPT, unveiled on Thursday, February 1, its latest update granting users worldwide access to Gemini Pro and introducing image generation capabilities.

Jack Krawczyk, product lead at Bard, said in a release on the company’s blog site that in addition to image generation capabilities, “users can now harness the power of Gemini Pro in over 40 languages and across more than 230 countries and territories”.

This expansion marks a significant milestone in Bard’s quest to enhance accessibility and functionality on a global scale.

Gemini Pro, integrated into Bard last December, has garnered widespread acclaim for its advanced understanding, reasoning, summarising, and coding abilities. According to the Large Model Systems Organisation, a prominent evaluator of language models and chatbots, Bard with Gemini Pro has emerged as a preferred choice among users, with commendations for its remarkable progress.

To further bolster trust and reliability, Bard is rolling out an expanded double-check feature, available in over 40 languages. This feature enables users to verify Bard’s responses by evaluating corroborating content across the web, enhancing transparency and accuracy in communication.

In addition to language expansion and verification tools, Bard now offers image generation capabilities. Powered by the updated Imagen 2 model, this feature enables users to generate high-quality, images based on simple descriptions.
