
Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett paid a courtesy call on the Thailand Ambassador to the U.S. HE Suriya Chindawongse at the Washington Embassy today to express the heartfelt sympathy of the tourism family of the Americas on the loss of lives and property of peoples of Thailand and Myanmar after the 7.7 earthquake which struck the two countries recently.

Minister Bartlett was also representing the Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre of which he is a founder and Chairman. The Minister is also the outgoing Chairman of the OAS Commission on Tourism. In his address to the 26th Congress of Tourism Ministers and high-level officials of the Americas in Washington today, he led the Congress in a minute of silence in Empathy with the Peoples of the two countries.

Earlier, he presented a letter of solidarity and condolences to the Thai Ambassador on behalf of the Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre and the tourism family of Jamaica
