Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett is now at the Olympic Games in France, promoting Jamaica as a premier tourist destination through the Jamaica Tourist Board’s (JTB) Jamaica House initiative.

Jamaica House Paris, which is a vibrant hub showcasing the best of Jamaican culture, is open to visitors throughout the Olympic Games, where global attention has been focused. Similar Jamaica House promotional spaces have been successfully mounted during previous global sporting events.

Jamaica House Paris will feature a range of activities, including live music, food, and giveaways, designed to immerse visitors in the island’s vibrant culture. Minister Bartlett, who departed the island for France on Wednesday (August 7), is emphasising the importance of leveraging the global stage to promote Brand Jamaica.

According to him, “Our athletes are global ambassadors, and their stellar performances provide us with a unique opportunity to showcase Jamaica’s rich heritage and warm hospitality to a worldwide audience. We are here to remind the world that Jamaica is not just a destination; it is an experience.”

The tourism minister is encouraging Jamaicans and visitors alike to experience the authentic Jamaican vibe at the hospitality house located at the Espace de la Cockerie event venue in Saint-Denis, a six-minute walk from Stade de France.

Off to Brazil next

Following his trip to Paris, Bartlett will travel to Brazil to engage in marketing activities and high-level talks with Tourism Minister Celso Sabino, aimed at strengthening tourism ties between the two countries. Bartlett has highlighted the strategic importance of the Brazilian market to Jamaica’s tourism growth.

“Brazil and the broader Latin American region are of strategic importance to Jamaica’s sustained tourism growth and development. By strengthening our ties with Brazil, we aim to tap into a dynamic market with enormous potential. This is about building bridges that will bring more visitors to our shores while also enhancing cultural and economic exchanges between our countries,” the minister notes.

He is scheduled to return to Jamaica on August 22.
