Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett will release a new book about building sustainability and resilience in the tourism sector.

The book, titled Thought Leadership on Tourism, Resilience, and Sustainability in the 21st Century, is said to be a reading essential for anyone who wants to know how to travel, how the tourism industry works, challenges in the sector, and how to keep it thriving.

Bartlett is an advocate for tourism resilience, having petitioned for the declaration of February 17 to be observed as Global Tourism Resilience Day.

The Ministry of Tourism in 2019 also made history when it established the first Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre, which was instrumental in the island’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

“During a period of extraordinary change and innovation, this all-encompassing study captures Minister Bartlett’s observations and insights about the changing nature of tourism, resilience, and sustainability. It is a collection of Bartlett’s essays, each of which is an in-depth investigation of some facet of tourism, from the importance of digital landscapes to the future of ocean economies,” wrote the tourism ministry in a post on social media.

While a release date was not stated, the tourism ministry shared that the book will be available at bookstores islandwide.

The tourism minister is also the co-author of The Future of Tourism, a book he will soon release alongside Lloyd G. Waller, professor of digital transformation policy and governance at The University of the West Indies.
