Portland businessman Everton ‘Beachy Stout’ McDonald and his co-accused Oscar Barnes have been both sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Tonia McDonald, wife of Beachy Stout.

The sentence was handed down this afternoon by Justice Chester Stamp in the Supreme Court.

Both men will each have to serve 28 years and 11 months before being eligible for parole.

The businessman was sentenced to four years and six months’ imprisonment for conspiracy, while Barnes was sentenced to six years and six months for conspiracy. Their sentences are set to run concurrently.

A seven-member jury found McDonald and Barnes guilty of murder and conspiracy to commit murder on March 6, 2024.

Prosecutors had reported that Tonia McDonald was killed on July 20, 2020, along the Sherwood Forrest main road in Portland after her husband took out a contract on her life.
