Dancehall artiste Beenie Man is today (September 16) calling on the proper authorities to hold former Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Floyd Green to further account, following a viral video that showed Green and others in breach of COVID-19 protocols on a government-ordered no-movement day.

In a tweet made on Thursday (September 16), Beenie Man stated, “I was charged and fined for an announcement! What is the consequence of actually planning and attending??? Will they be arrested?? Charged?? Or fined??? #Jamaica.”

Beenie Man, born Moses Davis, was fined J$150,000 or 35 days in jail when he appeared for sentencing before the St Elizabeth Parish Court in Black River on May 18, having previously pleaded guilty to breaches of the Disaster Risk Management Act (DRMA).

The 47-year-old entertainer was charged by the police for DRMA breaches last December after hosting an illegal party at a location in Shrewsbury district, St Elizabeth, on November 29, 2020.

At the time, Davis’ lawyer had indicated to the court that he was not in fact the host of the event however his image was used in the event promotion to attract patrons.

Davis is therefore calling for further action to be taken against further Cabinet Minister Green who he argues played an active role in the planning and attendance of a social gathering used to mark the 31st birthday of his former advisor Gabrielle Hylton.

At present no legal action has been taken against Green, who tendered his resignation on Wednesday (September 15) following a meeting with Prime Minister Andrew Holness.
