The island’s entertainment industry is showing up and showing out this summer, with many of the Jamaican industry’s favourites returning to the international stage, and this year’s One Musicfest (OMF) is no exception.
Dropping its show line-up today (June 22), the recurring American music festival will feature performances from Wayne Wonder, Kranium, Red Rat, Demarco and more. These artistes will the stage during the festival’s Caribbean Experience segment, which will be led by Brooklyn native, DJ Kash.
Also slated to take the stage is the often dubbed, King Of The Dancehall, Beenie Man. This will be among the first US performances for the Girls Dem Suga hitmaker, who for a decade, was barred from American soil.
Held in partnership with Live Nation Urban, the two-day urban progressive music festival, now in its 12th year, will be heading to a new location, Old Fourth Ward’s Central Park.
Atlanta, Georgia’s, OMF, slated to take place October 8 through to October 9, will be headlined by rappers Lil Baby, Rick Ross, Gucci Mane, Jeezy and singer Jazmine Sullivan.
Other artistes to take the stage include Ashanti and Ja Rule, Tems, Jagged Edge, City Girls and Mya, with a special guest performance by Ms Lauryn Hill.
Founder of OMF, J Carter, expressed excitement over this year’s line-up, as well as the show’s new location.
“We are super excited about this year’s line-up and new location. One thing we pride ourselves on is creating a diverse line-up that reflects the vast & beautiful breath of Black Music and Culture,” he said.
“We are also taking over the 4th Ward Area in Atlanta, GA, and increasing our footprint to four stages instead of three. ONE Musicfest 2022 will be our biggest year yet, but we still plan to keep the energy and vibrations intimate and comfortable.”
