The latest seasonal climate outlook for Jamaica is pointing to the strong possibility of a below-normal rainfall for the April to June quarter this year.

This is the assessment of the Jamaica Meteorological Service’s climate predictability tool, which indicates that at the same time, temperatures are likely to be warmer than normal.

For this morning, there is expected to be intermittent showers across northeastern parishes. Otherwise, it will be partly cloudy and windy along the north coast.

In the afternoon, there is expected to be showers and isolated showers across sections of southern parishes. It will be windy across northern parishes.

Our Today reported last week that data analysis from the Met Service showed an increase in rainfall across sections of St Ann, St Mary and Portland during the January to March period of 2022.

These resulted from active cold fronts which moved across Jamaica. No other severe weather impact was reported during the period.

This has greatly aided water supplies in these three parishes and farming activities. However, rainfall in the other parishes has not been so frequent being odd at most times.
