In a show of community commitment and environmental responsibility, Berger Paints Jamaica Limited (BPJL) teamed up with the Lions Club and Kiwanis Club for a major beautification initiative on Labour Day (May 23).

Both the Bellevue Hospital and the Golden Age Home in Vineyard Town—institutions that provide vital services to vulnerable members of the community—were treated to a facelift. Additionally, the company underwent a beautification exercise at its adopted institution, the Riverton Meadows Early Childhood Centre.

In keeping with its environmental mandate, Berger Paints Jamaica utilised its low-VOC (volatile organic compound) product line, designed to minimise harmful emissions and promote healthier living spaces. The company also donated recycling drums to the Bellevue Hospital, helping to foster a culture of sustainability.

“We are thrilled to once again give back to the communities that have supported Berger for decades,” said Dwaine Williams, managing director at Berger Paints Jamaica. “Through our VOC product line and the donation of recycling drums, we are not only refreshing physical spaces but also reaffirming our commitment to sustainable development.”

Sophia Fairman, president of the Kiwanis Club, echoed similar sentiments: “Collaborations like this allow us to focus on community improvement and service. Berger Paints Jamaica was approached and, without hesitation, they committed to providing all the paint needed, as well as volunteers to help with the beautification project and repainting of the outpatient clinic at the Bellevue Hospital.”

The initiative also marks another milestone in BPJL’s ongoing partnership with its adopted school, the Riverton Meadows Early Childhood Centre. This latest effort ensures that students have a vibrant, clean, and inspiring environment in which to learn and grow.

Junior Rowe, principal of the Riverton Meadows ECC, shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration: “I’m so elated because when we were approached by Berger, we told them we were planning to do some cleaning up and they immediately came on board. So I’m happy to see the team over here carrying out their social responsibility for a community that has been neglected for so long, and so we’re really appreciative of this gesture. The children will be so excited when they come in on Monday to see something different, a brand new school really.”

“At Berger Paints, we believe that vibrant spaces inspire young minds. This Labour Day, the team is proud to support Principal Rowe at the Riverton Meadows Early Childhood Centre, our adopted school, by helping to refresh their learning environment. As we celebrate Child’s Month, there’s no better time to give back and invest in the spaces where the future begins,” shared Williams.
