The Jamaica Broilers Group (JBG), through its Best Dressed Chicken brand, has returned as a sponsor of Jamaica’s senior women’s netball team with a tantalising J$16 million deal over three years.

The launch was held at the Liguanea Club in New Kingston on Thursday (January 16) and the multi-million-dollar injection is expected to support the Sunshine Girls’ journey as they prepare for the 2027 World Cup in Australia.

Avadaugn Sinclair, Best Dressed Chicken’s regional marketing manager, said they have been a steadfast supporters of Netball Jamaica, building a strong personal relationship with the team and have never stopped.

“Picture a young girl in Jamaica, netball in hand, holding a dream to rise high and wear the black green and gold with pride. Today, Best Dressed Chicken is proud to invest in that dream,” said Sinclair.

“This sponsorship for us is more than just support. It’s a commitment to ensuring that Jamaica’s netball legacy continues to thrive. Our sunshine girls have made us proud for over 50 years. From hosting the World Cup right here in Jamaica to earning a hard-fought bronze medal, they continue to shine,” she noted.

This is the third time Best Dressed Chicken has come on board first as way back in 2011 when they pumped $20.6m into the programme and again in 2015 with a $5m partnership.

“With legends like Connie Francis, Elaine Davis, Simone Forbes leading the way, it’s time for our ladies to continue this legacy. Our sunshine girls are warriors, showcasing unmatched passion and skills,” Sinclair stated.

“This sponsorship made a promise to fuel their journey and help them soar to new heights. At Best Dressed Chicken we will be feeding and empowering women,” she added.

The sponsorship will include:

Financial support: The Best Dressed Chicken will provide significant financial support to netball Jamaica, enabling training programmes, equipment upgrades, travel expenses and athletes development initiatives.

Product provisions: The Best Dressed Chicken will supply Netball Jamaica with a range of high-quality chicken products, ensuring the athletes have access to lean protein sources essential for their training and recovery.

Public engagement: The Best Dressed Chicken will leverage its marketing platforms to promote Netball Jamaica and raise awareness of the sport, inspiring young athletes and fostering national support for the Sunshine Girls.

Netball Jamaica president Tricia Robinson welcomed the partnership as a celebration of excellence, resilience and the enduring legacy of the pioneers who paved the way for their development.

“Thanks to Best Dressed Chicken for once again joining us as a valid partner of Netball Jamaica and the Sunshine Girls,” said Robinson.

“With your continued support is not just an investment in netball, it’s an investment in the dreams and aspirations of our talented young ladies and our athletes that will probably represent Jamaica on the global stage,” she noted.

Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls will host South Africa in three games on January 18, 22 and 25 in the Margaret Beckford Sunshine Series inside the National Indoor Sports Centre.

Jamaica are fresh from their series win over England — are ranked third in the world while South Africa, known as the Proteas, are ranked fifth.

The Under-21s will also play three games in the curtain raisers in what is expected to be some exciting encounters.

Sunshine Girls’ captain Shamera Sterling-Humphrey said she was wondering where the Best Dressed Chicken is that she grew up knowing they were always supporting netball.

“I knew that one day Best Dressed Chicken would be back on board with us. What a New Year threat. Happy New Year everybody,” said Sterling-Humphrey.

She continued: “On behalf of the Sunshine Girls and Netball Jamaica a huge thank you for coming on board with us”.

“For me as a young athlete coming through the programme, all I knew was Best Dressed Chicken. So, thank you so much and we really appreciate it,” she reiterated.
