Popular North American Caribbean music festival, Best of the Best has cancelled the 2023 staging of its concert due to US visa issues being experienced by crowd favorites.

The organizers of the event announced the postponement in an Instagram post to supporters and apologized for any inconvenience caused.

“On behalf of the organizers of Best of the Best music fest we would like to update all our Best of the Best festival goers that we have postponed this year’s staging and will commence on Sunday May 26, 2024,” they captioned a flyer announcing the postponement of the festival.

The announcement left many fans questioning the reason for the postponement of the annual event. Some fans then began to speculate that the event was rescheduled because Afro Nation, headlined by Burna Boy, Wiz Kid, Mavado, and others was being held around the same time (May 27 & 28).

Organizers then responded to say that the event was postponed because some entertainers that supporters want to see do not have a work permit.

“Many of the artistes who our festival-goers are requesting to see and have some momentum in the music scene right now do not have their visas, so that is our reason why we have to postpone. If we [were] to keep this year’s staging, it would probably have to look like similar shows of the past two years. That’s the only reason,” they wrote.

While some supporters are awaiting next year’s event, some are fearful that visa issues will also affect other upcoming concerts.
