The countdown to one of Jamaica’s most anticipated destination experience series has officially begun as Best Weekend Ever launched its 5th anniversary celebrations in Miami, Florida on Sunday, May 17, during the city’s popular brunch experience, Rise and Toast at The Urban.
Best Weekend Ever, slated for August 6-10, has evolved from a premium getaway concept into a cultural tradition for thousands of local and international experience seekers who journey to Ocho Rios annually for Jamaica’s Independence Weekend. Under the theme “Escape to Paradise,” the 2026 staging promises seven (7) curated events across five (5) days, delivering what organisers describe as “one epic escape” rooted in music, culture, luxury lifestyle and authentic Jamaican energy.
This year’s staging carries the overarching narrative of patrons turning their annual “trip into tradition,” as visitors from across the diaspora and beyond continue to make the series a staple on their travel calendars.
Managing Director of Best Weekend Ever, Dwayne Dacres, said launching the experience in Miami was intentional, especially with the series opening on Jamaica’s Independence Day with Miami’s Best brunch Event, Rise and Toast.
“This year Best Weekend Ever officially begins on August 6 with Rise and Toast, so we thought it was only fitting to launch the season at the actual event in Miami. The energy, culture and celebration that Rise and Toast represents aligns perfectly with what Best Weekend Ever has become over the last five years; an experience where people from around the world come together to celebrate freedom, friendship, music and Jamaica in a premium way,” said Dacres.
“What started as a getaway has now become tradition for many of our patrons,” he continued. “We are proud that Best Weekend Ever not only creates memorable moments, but also contributes meaningfully to the economy of Ocho Rios by driving tourism with patrons travelling annually from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and across the Caribbean to support local businesses which create employment opportunities and showcase Jamaica to the world. In addition, the export value of entertainment continues to be highlighted as all events on the Best Weekend Ever calendar (except Late Check Out) have been successfully staged within North America consistently for a number of years,” he concluded.
The launch event in Miami featured promotional reveals surrounding this year’s event lineup, with premium brand Don Julio (distributed by Red Stripe) as Title Sponsor. Nadine Hylton, Brand Manager for Don Julio underscored that “Red Stripe believes that the best celebrations are the ones that bring people together through authentic Jamaican experiences and Best Weekend Ever has successfully built a platform on culture, entertainment, hospitality and tourism into one unforgettable experience.” She reiterated that they are “excited to continue the partnership and to be a part of a celebration that attracts visitors locally and in the Diaspora while creating moments that reflect energy, creativity and pride that define our nation.”
Patrons attending Best Weekend Ever 2026 can expect a diverse blend of elevated experiences, including luxury brunches, nightlife events, beach escapes and premium themed parties being staged at Plantation Cove and Puerto Seco Beach.
On August 6, Rise and Toast, the official Independence Day brunch experience, opens the weekend with an “old skool” vibe. Then, Allure evolves from a beach event to a safari-inspired themed luxury nightlife experience. I Love Soca, arguably the biggest cooler festival in Jamaica, takes place on August 7 with the most energetic party vibe on showcase. On August 8, Daybreak Western Soirée, a rustic yet elevated breakfast and brunch affair with trendy western chic aesthetics, takes centre stage. Never to be understated, the fashion-forward, runway-styled Milk and Honey owns the night with hues of pink accentuated by white as the official dress code. Zimi Seh Beach, the ultimate urban beach destination party at Puerto Seco Beach, features celebrity cameos and sun-soaked vibes, is scheduled for August 9, while the local favourite farewell experience Late Check Out will close out the weekend on August 10. All events are food inclusive except I Love Soca, where coolers are allowed.
In keeping with previous years, season band holders will again benefit from discounts and special offers at participating attractions, restaurants and hospitality partners within Ocho Rios, further reinforcing the series’ commitment to supporting the local tourism ecosystem and encouraging visitors to explore the destination beyond the events.
Representing the Jamaica Tourist Board at the Miami launch was Christopher Dacosta, Destination and Digital Marketing Manager, who underscored the significance of destination experiences like Best Weekend Ever in positioning Jamaica globally.
“Jamaica is a destination; it’s a vibe, it’s energy, it’s a feeling. And that’s exactly why the Jamaica Tourist Board is excited to support Best Weekend Ever 2026. This event series incorporates music, culture, unforgettable moments, and the kind of experiences people travel for. Travel is about collecting memories, sharing experiences, and living stories worth telling, and Jamaica delivers that naturally. So if you’ve been looking for your sign to book the trip, this is it. Grab your crew, come experience the culture, and see why your Best Weekend Ever can only happen in Jamaica.”
Best Weekend Ever continues to be committed to positioning Ocho Rios as a global hub for lifestyle tourism, entertainment and cultural connection. As Jamaica prepares to celebrate another year of independence, additional information about artiste appearances, the best accommodations, transportation options and even boutiques for styling will be publicised on the @yourbestweekendever digital platforms to prepare patrons for their “epic escape to paradise.
