Beware! False WhatsApp message claiming BOJ issuing support grants

The proliferation of cybercrimes in Jamaica poses a clear and present danger to financial institutions and citizens are being urged to be on their guard.

There is a marked increased in these incidents which are even targeting the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ).

With that in mind, the BOJ is notifying the public that it is aware of a fraudulent message now in circulation that claims it is granting financial assistance through a ‘Bank of Jamaica Support Grant’. 

“Anyone who can identify the source or has been solicited by this fraudulent message is being asked to report the matter to the police.”

“Be advised that the Bank of Jamaica is not involved in this alleged ‘Bank of Jamaica Support Grant’,” the Central Bank declared in a statement.

“Anyone who can identify the source or has been solicited by this fraudulent message is being asked to report the matter to the police.

“When the Bank publicises grants and scholarships, the public will be informed via our website which you may visit at https://boj.org.jm.
