After 27 years of marriage, billionaire couple, Bill and Melinda Gates are calling their relationship quits.

The couple made the announcement via social media earlier today (May 3) arguing that “after a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage”.

Despite raising three “incredible” children and building a foundation “that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives”, the ex-couple said, “We no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives”.

As the Gates family seeks to transition into this new phase, they are asking for “space” and “privacy” as they continue the work of their foundation together.
