BillExpress, the bill payment arm of GraceKennedy Financial Services (GKFS), has engaged in a partnership with St Patrick’s Rangers (SPR), a non-governmental organisation (NGO), to provide critical aid to underserved communities still devastated by Hurricane Beryl.
BillExpress has leveraged its extensive network of over 300 locations in Jamaica alone, while working with SPR, to enable the swift delivery of financial aid to communities across Jamaica. Through the collaboration, the financial entity and NGO have distributed cash assistance to residents in severely impacted areas like New Haven and Riverton Meadows in St Andrew and Hampstead in St Thomas.
BillExpress’ PayU facility and robust infrastructure ensured secure and dignified support for vulnerable populations, including the elderly, people with disabilities, and those with limited mobility.
“We are proud to partner with organizations like St Patrick’s Rangers to build community resilience and provide accessible financial services,” said Terence Slater, regional manager of GraceKennedy Payment Services/Bill Express.
“BillExpress goes beyond mere transactions. This partnership is the first of many and through adaptable solutions like PayU, we are committed to creating positive change in the communities we serve,” he added. Over $10 million was paid out through the partnership, with beneficiaries reporting a seamless experience with BillExpress, praising the respectful staff, fast response times, and easy access at convenient locations.
“Working with BillExpress was a game-changer,” said Murglin Morris, finance and administrative officer, SPR.
“Their unwavering support, from setting up payout files to navigating unexpected challenges was instrumental throughout the project. Thanks to their constant communication and technical expertise, we ensured timely and hassle-free payments for our beneficiaries,” said Morris.
BillExpress’ PayU facility extends its reach beyond disaster relief. It supports government social payments like PATH and social pension, BPO salary payouts, and promotional payments for major companies. Additionally, BillExpress offers bill payments through GraceKennedy’s mobile wallet app, GK ONE.
As BillExpress expands its capabilities and strengthens partnerships, it remains well-positioned to deliver secure, convenient, and innovative payment solutions that empower communities across the Caribbean.
