Members of the blind community shone brightly at the Joyful Hearts Outreach Initiative, an inspiring mega-event hosted by Member of Parliament for South East Clarendon,  Pearnel Charles Jr.

This gathering brought together hundreds of constituents to celebrate unity, talent, and resilience while providing much-needed support to senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable families.

The blind community took centre stage with remarkable impromptu performances and exceptional demonstrations of their ability to identify the new Jamaican dollar bills using the new components that allow the blind and visually impaired to independently identify notes, highlighting the inclusivity of the nation’s currency redesign.

Their spirited antics and heartfelt contributions followed an explosive praise and worship session that left attendees inspired and energised.

The day’s activities culminated in a vibrant mini-concert hosted by Reverend Jeffrey Dawkins and featuring talent like Leroy “Bunny” Anderson, Petashae Dyer, Sasheik Christie, Ivarene Tulloch, Sheri- Gaye Johnson, Errol Bartley as well as the Longville Park Band performing to resounding applause from spirited patrons who were also excited to get in clocked to win one of the many prizes and surprises up for grabs.

Charles Jr. expressed his gratitude and commitment to supporting all members of his constituency, saying:

“This initiative is a testament to the strength and unity of our community. Today, we witnessed extraordinary talent and resilience from our senior citizens, vulnerable families and persons with disability, especially some of our talented constituents who are blind and visually impaired. This has been a true inspiration to us all. Together, we will continue to ensure that everyone feels loved, supported, and included in building a brighter future for South East Clarendon.”

The Joyful Hearts Outreach Initiative underscored MP Charles Jr.‘s dedication to creating inclusive opportunities and uplifting the most vulnerable in the constituency.
