The National Blood Transfusion Service, an entity under the Ministry of Health & Wellness (MOHW) responsible for the safe collection and storage of blood for transfusion purposes is set to commission its mobile blood collection unit on Wednesday (June 14).
To commemorate World Blood Donor Day tomorrow (June 14), the service is seeking to increase collection efforts islandwide.
This is an annual global observance geared towards raising awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products for transfusion.
This year’s theme, ‘Give blood, give plasma; share life, share often’ focuses on patients requiring lifelong transfusion support and underlines the role each person can play by giving the valuable gift of blood or plasma.
