The Usain Bolt Foundation has partnered with the Janet Richards Foundation to deliver a near $1 million investment in comfort, joy and development for children with disabilities at the Mustard Seed Blessed Assurance Children’s Home in St James.

The presentation, made during the home’s annual Christmas treat, included four patio table sets with umbrellas, a large tent, a portable swimming pool, toiletries, educational supplies, hot meals and snacks for residents and staff, along with gift packages for caregivers at a cost of approximately $900,000.

Beyond the immediate donations, expectations are high for the next phase of development—the transformation of the home’s outdoor play area.

The initiative will introduce slides and upgraded recreational facilities, designed to strengthen physical therapy outcomes, emotional development and overall well-being for the medically and physically challenged children who reside at the home.

The proposed play-area expansion is expected to significantly enhance residents’ quality of life, providing critical stimulation, therapeutic engagement and much-needed recreational relief within the home’s healing environment.

The Mustard Seed Blessed Assurance Children’s Home remains one of western Jamaica’s most vital residential facilities for children with complex medical and physical needs—and this anticipated collaboration ensures its young residents will continue to thrive with dignity, care and joy.

Despite recent national challenges—including the impact of Hurricane Melissa- support from the Usain Bolt Foundation has remained unwavering.

The foundation’s leadership, alongside the Janet Richards Foundation, continues to demonstrate a deep commitment to sustainable community impact in western Jamaica.

Administrators at Mustard Seed describe the partnership between the two foundations as exceptional, highlighting its inclusive approach that supports not only the children but also the caregivers who serve them daily.
