Chairman of CARICOM and Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr Keith Rowley has tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), his office confirmed on Tuesday (April 6).

According to a statement from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) in Trinidad, Rowley was experiencing flu-like symptoms on Monday evening, after which, he was subsequently tested.

It is not clear when the results returned, however, the Trinidadian OPM further noted that Rowley is currently being isolated while receiving medical treatment.

Rowley is the second CARICOM head of government to have tested positive for COVID-19, following the announcement of Belize Prime Minister John Briceño’s confirmatory result in November 2020.
