The British High Commission has urged  British nationals living in and visiting Jamaica to follow the advice of local authorities and sign up for UK Travel Advice during the passage of  Hurricane Beryl.

While noting that it is closely monitoring Hurricane Beryl, the high commission encouraged Britons living in Jamaica to take precautions to ensure their safety.

It also recommended that individuals keep important documents safe, including passports and birth certificates, and ensure that essential supplies are easily accessible.

“Know your nearest hurricane shelter, as issued by the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management and be prepared to evacuate to a safe place at short notice,” the British High Commission said.

“Responding to and supporting the safety of British nationals is our top priority, and we shall be working urgently with local authorities to provide support to those who need it,” the mission added.

The high commission will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates through travel advisories and on its social media platforms as necessary.
