

The stage is set for an epic showdown in the world of reggae music as four Jamaican artistes, Buju Banton, Beenie Man, Julian Marley, and Burning Spear, find themselves in the spotlight with nominations for the prestigious Reggae Album of the Year category at the 2024 Grammy Awards.
The nominations, announced on Friday during the Recording Academy’s annual nominations livestream event, are a reflection of the illustrious careers and enduring influence of the artistes.
Buju Banton earned his nomination for his recently released 12th studio album, Born For Greatness. The album, released in September, features musical legends Victoria Monét, Stephen Marley, and Snoop Dogg.
Buju Banton was nominated in 2020 for his album Upside Down.
Beenie Man, who was nominated for his album Simma. Simma, is the ‘King of Dancehall’ 17th studio album and features an eclectic mix of dancehall, reggae, afrobeats, and drill music.
This is Beenie Man’s fourth nomination for the Grammy Award. He won in 2001 for Art and Life.
Julian Marley, the son of reggae icon Bob Marley, and French band Antaeus, were nominated for their album Colors of Royal.
Burning Spear’s also received a nomination for his album No Destroyer, which marked his return to the music industry after 15 years.
Bermudian reggae artiste Collie Buddz was nominated for his Cali Roots Riddim 2023.
The 2024 Grammys will take place on Sunday, February 4, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
