It was another Khadija “Bunny” Shaw to the rescue performance for Jamaica, which eased past Nicaragua in the 2025/26 Concacaf Women’s World Cup Qualifiers yesterday.
Jamaica earned a 3-2 victory over Nicaragua in Group B at Estadio Nacional in Managua, Nicaragua. The hosts got on the board first when captain Sheyla Flores converted from the penalty spot in the 27th minute.
Jamaica responded ten minutes later, as Shaw rose for a towering header off a great cross from Tiffany Cameron.
Shaw notched a brace in the 58th minute when she knocked in a loose ball off a free kick. The Reggae Girlz extended their lead in the 68th minute when Shaw sent a cross into the middle of the box, and Shania Hayles tapped it in.
Nicaragua fought until the end, and Mayqueling Márquez smashed a thunderous header off a corner kick in the 82nd minute. However, it wasn’t enough to pull off the comeback.
The two nations will finish their participation in the World Cup Qualifiers during the April qualifying window. Jamaica faces Antigua and Barbuda in its next encounter, before concluding against Guyana. Nicaragua will meet Dominica in the final match of their campaign.
