American rapper Trevor “Busta Rhymes” Smith Jr is to receive his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2025 after being active in the rap game for almost 38 years.

The 52-year-old expressed his elation with being inducted via an Instagram post.

“As you will continue to hear it from me every single day, the blessings don’t stop. So we will never ever stop!! Thank you to everyone involved in choosing me to be blessed with such a prestigious accolade! (sic)” he posted.

He went on to congratulate those who were to be inducted alongside him, tagging the Isley Brothers, Fantasia, Sherrie Shepherd, WAR the band, Prince, Nia Long, Keith Urban, George Strait, Bill Duke, and others.

“We worked hard,” he said, referring to all the inductees, “And we will continue to work hard because we love it too much!… we aint never stopping (sic)!”

Though not a born Jamaican, his Jamaican parents Geraldine Green and Trevor Smith Sr made sure he got his cultural digest in their New York home.

Rhymes said that his musical influences ranged from dancehall, reggae, and rap. He also credits watching Jamaican DJ clashes for his fast rapping style.

In 2023, Black Entertainment Television (BET) honoured Busta Rhymes with a Lifetime Achievement Award and musical tribute featuring Jamaican artistes Spice, Dexta Daps, Skillibeng, and Cutty Ranks.

The Touch It rapper has been nominated for 12 Grammy’s but has never won.

However, his mark on rap culture is unrivalled by none for his fast-rapping abilities, his style and iconic music videos.
