Detectives in St. James have charged a 31-year-old butler in connection with a multi-million-dollar robbery that occurred at the intersection of Upper Bevin Avenue and Market Circle, Montego Bay, on June 24.
The accused has been identified as Nicoy Ramsay, otherwise called ‘Nick’, of Esher, Hanover. He has been charged with robbery with aggravation and unlawful wounding.
Reports from the police indicate that about 8:30 pm, two employees of a trading company were travelling in a motor truck when they were ambushed by Ramsay and another man, both armed.
The attackers allegedly robbed the workers of approximately J$7 million.
During the incident, one of the men also struck the truck driver, causing a bleeding wound.
The matter was reported to the police, who immediately launched an investigation.
On September 17, Ramsay surrendered to the Negril Police Station in the company of his attorney. He was later handed over to St. James detectives and charged after being pointed out during an
identification parade.
