Butterkist’s ‘Risk it for the Biscuit’ encourages teamwork in schools

Leading snack producer Butterkist kicked off the “Risk it for the Biscuit” competition, an initiative aiming to empower students to engage in teamwork, at Meadowbrook Prep School.

Schools will be competing for a chance to win $300,000 towards their school project.

Speaking on the initiative, Marielle Wade, brand manager at Butterkist, said, “At Butterkist, we believe in empowering young minds and fostering a spirit of collaboration and innovation. The ‘Risk it for the Biscuit’ competition is not just about winning; it’s about inspiring students to dream big and positively impact their communities.”

Some 300 students from Meadowbrook’s kindergarten to the sixth grade expressed enthusiasm at the opportunity to compete with other schools in the Corporate Area. Reflecting on the initiative,

“This competition fosters teamwork and enables students to contribute meaningfully to their school. Given our pressing needs, particularly in our library, this opportunity is invaluable,” she said.

Meadowbrook Prep’s Grade 6 students Destini Dixon, Jaynna Sudar, and  Grade 3 student Dejaun Whitfield delight in a fun Butterkist snack eating contest to launch the Risk it for the Biscuit promotion.

The “Risk it for the Biscuit” competition is designed with a variety of activities aimed at captivating and motivating students. As part of the competition, students are tasked with depositing Butterkist labels into designated boxes within their schools, with the school amassing the most labels emerging as the victor. The competition is slated to conclude on June 26th, with the triumphant school awarded the cash prize to implement a school project of their preference.

The “Risk it for the Biscuit” initiative underscores Butterkist’s unwavering commitment to educational empowerment and community development in Jamaica. By furnishing financial support and resources to schools in need, Butterkist endeavours to optimise educational prospects and contribute to the nation’s progress.
