Cape Verde’s journey in the World Cup continues after the tournament newcomers booked a place in the round of 32, where they will face defending champions Argentina and Lionel Messi.

A 0-0 draw with Saudi Arabia was enough to send the Blue Sharks through as runners up in Group H, helped by Uruguay’s defeat to Spain. The result brought out celebrations as Cape Verde advanced in their first ever World Cup without losing a match.

Head coach Bubista believes his side has nothing to fear despite the daunting challenge ahead. Ranked 67th in the world and representing a nation of just over 500,000 people, Cape Verde have already exceeded expectations by progressing from a group that included Spain and Uruguay.

Now they head to Miami for their biggest match  yet, with a place in the last 16 on the line against Messi and Argentina.
