Caribbean Airlines, CAL, will discontinue flights between Jamaica and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, effective Sunday, November 2, 2025.

The Trinidad-based regional carrier announced the move in a statement on Tuesday.

It says the current economic conditions impacting the Jamaica–Fort Lauderdale market require the airline to reallocate resources.

It adds that the move is in line with its long-term objectives of fleet efficiency, cost management and delivering reliable service to customers.

CAL says the move also forms part of the company’s ongoing network optimisation programme. This involves continuous evaluation of routes to ensure the sustainability and efficiency of operations.

The airline says it will continue to serve Jamaica and the diaspora through other gateways within its network.

It says passengers with confirmed bookings on services between Jamaica and Fort Lauderdale beyond November 1, 2025, are being contacted directly.

They will be offered full refunds.

Meanwhile, the regional carrier has announced a codeshare agreement with French airline, Air Caraïbes.

The partnership is set to boost leisure and business travel between the Caribbean and Europe, while strengthening ties between French territories and the English-speaking Caribbean.

Under the agreement, travellers from any destination within the Caribbean Airlines network may connect onto Air Caraïbes for onward travel to Orly Airport in Paris, France.

The connections will be via the French Caribbean territories of Martinique or Guadeloupe.
