Caribbean Assurance Brokers Limited (CAB) has announced the appointment of Donna Brown as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective February 1.

Brown brings to the role an exceptional blend of legal training, insurance expertise, and public- and private-sector leadership experience, spanning more than three decades.

She is an alumna of the University of the West Indies and holds a law degree from the University of London. She also earned her Council of Legal Education Certificate from the Norman Manley Law School and was called to the Bar in 2008. In addition, Brown is a Chartered Insurer (ACII).

Her professional career began in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she served as a Foreign Service Officer. During her tenure, she held roles in the Protocol Office, the Multilateral Organisations Division, and the Economics Division. Notably, she was assigned as Protocol Officer and coordinated itineraries for several high-profile international dignitaries, including former Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide and global icon Nelson Mandela, during their official visits to Jamaica.

Brown later transitioned into the insurance industry, serving as a Loss Adjuster with Thomas Howell Group (Jamaica) Limited, part of the global reinsurance group Swiss Re.

She went on to spend 23 years at JN General Insurance, where she rose through the ranks and served as Claims Manager, gaining extensive experience in operational leadership, risk management, and customer advocacy.

She joined Caribbean Assurance Brokers in October 2023 as Chief Operating Officer and, following her demonstrated leadership and strategic impact, was subsequently promoted to Chief Executive Officer.

Brown is known for a leadership style rooted in people-first principles, strong governance, and innovation. She maintains an open-door policy and places significant emphasis on structure, service excellence, and empowering individuals with the right attitude to succeed. Her approach aligns seamlessly with CAB’s customer mantra: First Class Customer Service, First Time, On Time, Every time. A philosophy she applies equally to internal and external stakeholders.

She is also a proud alumna of the Convent of Mercy Academy, ‘Alpha’.

Caribbean Assurance Brokers is actively pursuing more bespoke digital solutions to its suite of offerings.
