The Caribbean Biodiversity Fund will host the free three-day Caribbean Environmental Film and Arts Festival at 10A West Kings House Road in Kingston from June 6 – 8.
Each festival day will highlight environmental conservation.
Hayden Billingy, technical officer at the Ecosystem-based Facility for Caribbean Biodiversity, says the festival is a networking and collaboration opportunity for people committed to protecting the Caribbean’s environment.
“The Environmental Film and Arts Festival comes at a time when the global community grapples with the urgent challenges of climate change and biodiversity loss, thus the festival serves as a beacon of hope and a call to action,” said Billingy.
From paintings to cinematics and multi-genre performances, the festival seeks to showcase the interconnectedness of art and the environment. It also aims to stir a sense of urgency and responsibility among the attendees, while creating a platform that facilitates the exchange of ideas and forging connections.
The opening will commence at 6:30 pm on Thursday (June 6), featuring a Taino & Maroon blessing and greeting performance and a film screening with a post-screening Q&A session.
Friday, June 7, from 11:00 am -11:00 pm there will be visual arts exhibitions, multiple film screenings, panel discussions and performances.
On the final day, there will be immersive youth-focused activities.
