CARICOM hails Suriname on 46th anniversary of independence

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has congratulated the Government and People of Suriname on the country’s 46th Anniversary of Independence which it celebrates today (November 25).

CARICOM Secretary-General Dr Carla Barnett, in a congratulatory message to Suriname President Chandrikapersad Santokhi said: “Suriname has made remarkable progress in those 46 years, which is the result of hard work by a resolute people in their quest for growth, sustainable development and the well-being of the country.”

She added: “CARICOM is pleased to join in your celebration and I reaffirm my own commitment and that of my staff to working alongside the government and people of your country for the continued progress of Suriname.”
