CARIFTA Gymnastics Champs launched with support from Supreme Ventures and Mayberry

The inaugural CARIFTA Gymnastics Championships was launched in Jamaica with the support of Supreme Ventures Limited and Mayberry Investment.

The National Gymnastics Centre on Slipe Road in Kingston was filled with excitement on November 14, as Jamaica proudly launched the CARIFTA Gymnastics Championships 2024.

This groundbreaking event, set to take place from November 29 to December 1 at the National Indoor Sports Centre, will bring together young gymnasts from across the Caribbean to compete at an international level.

Countries participating in this landmark championship include Trinidad and Tobago, Bermuda, Aruba, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados, and the Bahamas, joining Jamaica in a display of the Caribbean’s commitment to the growth of gymnastics. The championship will unite the region’s top talent in a unique celebration of athleticism, sportsmanship, and Caribbean unity. Representing Jamaica in this historic event is a strong team of 73 participants, proudly showcasing the nation’s dedication to gymnastics and youth development.

The support of Supreme Ventures Limited and Mayberry Investments has been instrumental in making this event possible, reflecting their commitment to sports and youth development in Jamaica and the wider region.

Nicole Grant, President of the Jamaica Gymnastics Association (JGA), expressed her pride and gratitude at the launch. “We are the first to host these championships. What a momentous occasion not only for gymnastics in Jamaica but for the entire Caribbean. We want to thank everyone involved, from the athletes, sponsors, coaches, parents, to officials. We come together to celebrate the spirit of competition, sportsmanship, and unity,” said Grant. “This is a significant milestone for our region, providing a platform for our young gymnasts to showcase their talents, skills, and dedication on an international level. It is an opportunity for our athletes to inspire one another and create lasting memories.”

Grant continued: “As we gather here today, we are reminded of the importance of nurturing our young talents and providing them with opportunities to shine. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors as we extend our deepest appreciation for your generous support. Your belief in the vision of this championship has made it possible for us to create an event that will not only elevate gymnastics in Jamaica but strengthen the bonds among Caribbean nations. The CARIFTA Gymnastics Championships 2024 will feature a range of events, including floor, balance beam, uneven bars, vault, and rhythmic gymnastics, allowing young gymnasts to demonstrate their diverse skills and dedication. By hosting this international competition, Jamaica is showcasing the nation’s growing gymnastics programme and reaffirming its commitment to becoming a central hub for gymnastics in the Caribbean.
