The much-anticipated three-day Carifta Trials set to begin on Friday, February 27, has been switched from the National Stadium to the GC Foster College due to the ongoing resurfacing of the track.

The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) released a statement on Monday advising of the change of venue.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding,” said the release.

The Carifta Games which normally is a good indicator of the form of the runners heading into the Boys and Girls Athletics Championships set for March 25-29.

This is the first of many events scheduled for the National Stadium that would have been impacted by the resurfacing of the light blue running track.

Only last week the government announced that work to the tune of US$350,000 J$55 million will begin on Sunday, February 23 right after the conclusion of the Gibson McCook Relays.

The government came under pressure to speedily fix the track that was last patched up in 2021 and fully resurfaced in 2011 with the first leg of the inaugural Grand Slam Track to kick off in April.
