Carlong Publishers (Caribbean) Limited is responding to the plight of local schools that have been adversely affected by the passing of Hurricane Beryl.
The company, considering itself among the “partners in the education process” will, through the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information, donate approximately 5,000 copies of titles from its flagship Carlong Primary Integrated Studies (CPIS) series to fifteen primary schools that suffered severe damage from the passage of Hurricane Beryl.
“We recognised that there would be a need for these books as our CPIS titles are entrenched in the school system, having been consistently procured by the minister of education, skills, youth and information and distributed to primary schools island-wide in previous years,” said Candice Carby, general manager of Carlong Publishers (Caribbean) Limited.

The recipient schools were selected by the Minister of Education, Skills, Youth and Information with eleven schools being in Region 5 (Manchester and St Elizabeth) and four schools from Clarendon (Region 7).
“We want to ease the burden on schools and on the parents who would otherwise have to go out and purchase the books, so we’re not just donating, we’re also delivering the books to the affected areas,” Carby continued.
Carlong continues to work closely with the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth, and Information and the recipient schools will be special guests at two handing-over ceremonies set to take place on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 8:30 pm at the Region 5 office at South Race Course Road, Mandeville, and on the same day at 1:00 pm at the Region 7 office at 42 Longbridge Avenue, May Pen.

With a commitment to provide high-quality educational materials for students within the Caribbean, Carlong said it remains dedicated to also ensuring that Jamaican children at the primary level realise their full educational potential.
