Carlos Alcaraz, the 22-year-old top-seeded tennis player from Spain, secured his second Queen’s Club title on Sunday with a hard-fought 7-5, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2 victory over Czech player Jiri Lehecka.
The Queen’s Club event is a precursor to the Grand Slam Wimbledon tournament.
The win extended Alcaraz’s impressive winning streak to 18 matches, though he faced a stern test from the 23-year-old Lehecka. Alcaraz seized the crucial moment at 5-5 in the first set, breaking Lehecka’s serve to clinch the opener in 45 minutes.
Lehecka responded with a determined effort, taking the second set to a tiebreaker. However, Alcaraz regained control in the decider, racing to a 4-1 lead as Lehecka’s intensity waned. A final break of serve sealed the victory for Alcaraz, who dominated his service games, not facing a single break point and firing 18 aces. This win is now the Spaniard’s 21st career title.
