Current Managing Director of cigarette company Carreras Limited, Franklin Murillo, is stepping down, as part of a changing of the guard at the Jamaican-based company.
Murillo, a Costa Rican national, has been in office since 2022 when he replaced Trinidadian Raoul Glynn. He is stepping down from his role effective July 31, 2025, and will be assuming a new position within parent company British American Tobacco (BAT) Group, like his predecessor.
The Board of Carreras has expressed its sincere gratitude to Murillo for his dedication and leadership over the past three years and extends best wishes for continued success in his new role.
The board has approved the appointment of Ivan Hurtado as Managing Director of the Company, effective August 1, 2025.
His appointment is subject to all requisite regulatory approvals. Hurtado currently serves as Head of Consumer Experience – Latin America (LATAM) North and Caribbean, based in Mexico.
In this role, Hurtado has significantly enhanced consumer engagement across the region, driving growth in both traditional tobacco and new categories, including vapour and modern oral products.
The board said it is confident that under Hurtado’s leadership, the company will continue to deliver strong performance and long-term value for shareholders.
