Jamaica’s Cavalier FC are winners of the 2024 Concacaf Caribbean Cup despite losing the second leg 1-2 to Cibao FC in the Dominican Republic on Tuesday night.

Having won the first leg 1-0 in Kingston, the tie ended 2-2 on aggregate enabling Cavalier to become the third Jamaican team to be crowned Caribbean champion following Harbour View (2004, 2007) and Portmore United (2005, 2019).

By winning the title, Cavalier gained a bye to the round of 16  of the 2025 CONCACAF Champions Cup which kicks off in February 2025. The draw will be made on December 10.

The Rudolph Speid-coached Cavalier swept all the awards as they won for Fair Play and Dwayne Atkinson voted the Best Player. Shaquille Stein won the Golden Boot award with eight goals while Vino Barclett was the Best Goalkeeper. Jalmaro Calvin was the Youth Revelation Award winner.

Cavalier through Stein had taken a 1-0 advantage heading into the Dominican Republic but the home team struck two goals in two minutes. Juan Díaz opened the scoring in the second leg with a penalty kick in the 27th minute tying the series 1-1 on aggregate.

Then Rivaldo Correa put Cibao in the lead netting their second goal in the 28th minute turning around the tie leading 2-1 on aggregate.

But Dwayne Atkinson had other ideas and he responded by scoring in the 54th minute, making the tie 2-2 on aggregate but more importantly, leading on the away goal rule.

It was sweet for Cavalier as they were the runner’s up from last season and now they have gone one better to be champions.
