Carla Dunbar Ministries International (CDMI) F.A.M.I.L.I.E.S (Faithfully Advancing Marriages, Integrating Lives, In Encouraging Service) Ministry began its charitable efforts with 2024’s Kingdom Out outreach event on Saturday, June 22.

This impactful charity and welfare initiative took place at the Golden Spring Community Center, bringing essential resources and services to families in need across Jamaica.

Carla Dunbar Ministries is a non-profit family ministry founded to promote understanding of God’s love and marriage.

It offers counselling care, family and sex therapy, and a 12-Step Conquerors Recovery Programme for sexual trauma victims.

As a certified professional life coach, Dunbar guides individuals towards fulfilling their life’s purpose.

CDMI intends to host two Kingdom Out events in every parish across Jamaica twice a year, seeking to give back to the community through the wide range of services they, in collaboration with their sponsors and support, have to offer.

This event is supported by Guardian Life, Grace, Wisynco, Derrimon Trading Company, Confidence, and many others who believe in CDMI’s missions. Guardian Life would have sponsored Kingdom Out with their shirts.

What is Kingdom Out?

Kingdom Out is a cornerstone community outreach program designed to uplift families and enhance their well-being.

Held biannually, the event offers a wide range of free professional services and resources, including individual and group sessions covering essential topics, such as spiritual guidance, crisis support, relationship counselling, legal aid, life coaching, and financial planning. The sessions are led by experts including gospel ministers, social workers, counsellors, business advisors, and legal professionals.

In an interview with Our Today, Bishop Dr Dunbar expressed that the driving force behind her ministry and its initiatives is the development and sustenance of healthy marriages.

“I have been a marriage and family therapist for over eighteen (18) years working with families and marriages and seeing the need…I pastored for over 21 years, so I pulled away from mainstream pastoring to just focus fully on marriage,” she said.” I recognised that if families are not sustained the church is not sustained.”

Through Kingdom Out and her many other initiatives geared toward marriage maintenance such as GYM- Grow Your Marriage, self-love, sexual health/help, books she has authored, and counselling services, Dunbar is truly one-of-one.

She is certainly not your typical Bishop— her mission of building sustainable marriages has led her to publish three books so far in 2024, with a goal of reaching seven by the end of the year.

Her publications include Sexcription and 52 Week Couple’s Devotional, both geared toward fostering intimacy within marriages.

“I still needed to do some form of evangelism, but I was told specifically by the holy spirit that I’m a specialist, not a general practitioner,” Dunbar said, “Rebuilding Jamaica and our world one marriage at a time.”

The event catered to Health Screening where attendees can benefit from health screenings, including blood sugar and blood pressure tests. CDMI offered over 200 families essential supplies for their basic needs, including food and healthcare items.

CDMI provides a welcoming environment where families can access resources, resolve conflicts, and strengthen their bonds.

The Mission ahead

The Kingdom Out event is CDMI’s ongoing commitment to fostering community well-being and empowering families with the tools and resources they need to thrive.

Through Kingdom Out, CDMI continues to make significant strides in addressing the needs of underserved communities across Jamaica.

Dunbar plans on expanding CDMI to Atlanta, Georgia soon, and says she already has some members in Japan and some of the other Caribbean islands.

The next stop for Kingdom Out will be St Thomas come December.

Reading Time: 4 minutes Daylight saving time, a practice affecting almost 400 million people across North America, is once again in the spotlight as debates over its necessity continue. This twice-a-year ritual of adjusting clocks forward in spring and back in autumn has been ingrained in American, Canadian and Cuban life for more than a century. However, recent legislative proposals and shifting public sentiment are prompting a reevaluation of its relevance in today’s society.
