Canadian singer Celine Dion has been diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that affects one in a million people.

In an emotional sit down video released today (December 8), the Canadian singer opened up about her diagnosis, while fighting back tears.

“I’ve been dealing with problems with my health for a long time and it has been really difficult for me to face these challenges and to talk about everything that I’ve been going through,” she shared.

Stiff Person Syndrome is a movement disorder that causes rigidity and spasms in the limbs, trunk and other parts of the body.

Dion shared that the spasms have affected every aspect of her daily life, making it very difficult for her to perform. As such, she will have to postpone her European tour in February of 2023.

The Power of Love artiste has rescheduled all her Spring 2023 shows to 2024, and cancelled eight of her summer 2023 shows. But she is optimistic about her return to the big stage.

“I’m working hard with my sports medicine therapist every day to build back my strength and my ability to perform again, but I have to admit it’s been a struggle,” she said.

The My Heart Will Go On singer is known for her powerful and technically skilled vocals that touched the hearts and lives of many, even at a young age.

“All I know is singing. It’s what I’ve done all my life and it’s what I love to do the most,” shared an emotional Dion.

A star from a young age, Dion had recorded nine French albums and won numerous awards by the time she was 18.

“I miss you so much. I miss seeing all of you, being on the stage performing for you. I always give a hundred percent when I do my shows, but my condition is now allowing me to give you that right now,” she said.

She ended by expressing her gratitude to fans for their unwavering support, expressing hope that she will return soon.
