The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has come down hard on an active serviceman and his ex-cop accomplice who face several charges including kidnapping, robbery with aggravation and breaches of the Corruption Act.
The two have since been identified as 35-year-old Raniel McGregor, a constable assigned to the St Thomas Police Division and 42-year-old ex-policeman-turned-businessman Lannie Pearcy.
Our Today previously reported that the pair were collared after an incident in the parish on May 3.
McGregor and Pearcy reportedly identified themselves as police and entered the premises of a man in Golden Grove Meadows in St Thomas.
The pair then allegedly robbed the complainant of J$2,150,000 before forcibly kidnapping him.
The victim was later released and made a report to the police.
Following the initial investigation, McGregor and Pearcy were subsequently arrested and charged.
The pair first appeared in court on Wednesday (May 16), where they were each granted J$2 million bail with three or more sureties.
McGregor and Pearcy were then ordered to hand over their passports and other travel documents and must report to a police station three times weekly.
Their next court date is set for June 9.
