Charles Sponge, head of the Sponge Music label, is confident that his latest project, the Globalization Riddim (the Reggae Edition Vol 1) will bring more prestige to his growing repertoire.

Released on January 21, the project features the vocals of popular reggae acts like Capleton, Sizzla, Lutan Fyah, Ikaya and Jah Thunder on the tunes. As such, Sponge is expecting big things.

“I am going to change the game with this project,” he said, “no producer has ever released a project featuring reggae artistes on a dancehall riddim before. I am the first producer to do that, and I am sure that this project is going to be a hit.”

The Montego Bay-born producer also revealed that he plans to release the dancehall edition of Globalization Riddim later this year.

“I’m currently working on the second volume, the dancehall edition. This volume is going to feature several of the biggest acts in dancehall music but I’m not going to drop any names right now. All I can say is that the fans are in for a big surprise, so stay tuned,” he said.

Charles Sponge launched his Sponge Music label with the release of the Porous Riddim, a project that he co-produced with his longtime friend and business associate Elvie of Natural Bond Entertainment, in 2020.

Since then, he has produced songs for a number of popular Jamaican artistes including Capleton, Mavado, Alkaline, Beenie Man, Gyptian, Ikaya, Bugle, Shaneil Muir, Denyque and Jahmeil.

Last year, the label enjoyed tremendous success with the World Press Riddim which spawned chart-topping singles including Mavado’s Not Perfect and Alkaline’s Real Dawgs
