Maiden European goals from Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell helped Chelsea FC establish a crucial advantage in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals against FC Porto on Wednesday (April 7).

The Blues struck in each half to secure two away goals in Seville ahead of the second leg in six days back in southern Spain.

Mount, turning brilliantly away from pressure to finish confidently into the bottom corner, created the opening breakthrough for the Thomas Tuchel-managed Chelsea in the 32nd-minute.

It was the young Briton’s eighth goal of the campaign.

While the English Premier League (EPL) outfit surrendered opportunities to the Portuguese champions, mostly from set-pieces, a 1-0 result would have been a good effort, however, Chilwell added a shine to the scoreline with five minutes remaining, rounding the goalkeeper in Fernando Torres-esque fashion before steering the ball into an empty net.

Two goals and a clean sheet leave Chelsea with an unquestionable advantage at the midway stage, only needed a tie to book a place in the semi-finals as a fitting reward.
