Chelsea strolls through the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup on Sunday (January 10) following a comfortable 4-0 dismissal of League Two outfit Morecambe.

A Chelsea-favoured outcome rarely looked in doubt, as the Frank Lampard-managed team, playing at home, dominated proceedings right from the first whistle.

The Stamford Bridge demolition kicked off with a solid goal in the 18th minute by birthday lad Mason Mount, followed by a brilliant strike from German forward Timo Werner in the 44th.

League Two’s seventh-placed team, bruising from a 2-0 deficit at the resumption of play, spent most of the game defending their penalty box as The Blues enjoyed almost unbroken possession.

By the time Callum Hudson-Odoi latched on to Hakim Ziyech’s chip over the top to make it 3-0 in the 49th minute, the game was already effectively over as Morecambe’s woes continued.

The last, campaign-ending goal came in the 85th minute when Kai Havertz delivered on a set piece to score Chelsea’s fourth.

Ninth place Chelsea returns to English Premier League (EPL) action with back-to-back away games this week.

The Blues first tackle west London neighbours Fulham on Friday evening, before travelling to Leicester City the following Tuesday.
