Chelsea has reported the largest pretax loss in Premier League history, a staggering £262 million for the 2024-25 season, surpassing Manchester City’s £197.5 million deficit in 2011.

The club pulled in £490.9 million in revenue, their second-highest ever, after winning the UEFA Conference League, the Club World Cup, and finishing fourth in the Premier League.

The losses reflect Chelsea’s heavy spending since the BlueCo takeover in 2022, with over £1 billion spent on players, many on long-term deals. Included in the figure are UEFA fines, Premier League sanctions, and write-offs for players such as Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk. The women’s team also posted a £17.1 million loss, with revenue at £21.3 million.

Chelsea expects revenue to rise in the coming season, boosted by £85 million from the Club World Cup and £80 million from Champions League broadcasting. While pretax losses over the past three years total roughly £220 million, the club says it remains compliant with financial regulations under UEFA’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.
