It’s only Week 2 of this year’s NFL season, but the alarm bells are already ringing in Kansas City.
For the first time in his career, Patrick Mahomes finds himself staring at a 0-2 start and riding a three-game losing streak that’s completely foreign territory for the reigning MVP.
For the Chiefs, it’s their first 0-2 opening since 2014, which also happens to be the last time they missed the playoffs. It’s early, but the pressure is very real.
Monday night’s rematch with the Philadelphia Eagles wasn’t the blowout we saw in February’s Super Bowl, but the result still stings. A tightly contested battle turned on a single moment: a near-certain touchdown turned into a costly turnover when Travis Kelce mishandled a pass in the end zone, allowing Eagles safety Andrew Mukuba to snatch it away. That one slip changed the tone of the game.
Both defences were on lockdown mode for most of the night, making big plays and forcing punts, but the Eagles simply had more firepower when it counted. With Jalen Hurts directing the offence and Saquon Barkley breaking tackles, Philadelphia leaned on its stars to grind out the win.

It’s their third straight victory over the Chiefs and their 17th in their last 18 games, which is a staggering stretch of form for a team that looks every bit like a title contender again.
Kansas City, meanwhile, finds itself in unfamiliar territory. The defending champs have plenty of time to steady the ship, but right now, they’re searching for answers and the margin for error is already starting to shrink.
