Children at Annie Dawson’s Home get a connectivity boost from Digita and SMS

Children residing at Annie Dawson’s Home will now have greater access to internet connectivity after Digita Global Marketing Ltd (DGM) in collaboration with Smart Mobile Solutions (SMS) donated J$300,000 towards providing two years of internet service and technical support for the home.

Some 15 Alcatel tablets were also donated to the home to bridge the digital divide and provide access to various educational materials, empowering the children to explore new horizons, develop life-changing digital skills and unlock boundless opportunities for growth and learning.

Founder and executive director of the home Ivaline Nickie said: “The decision of Digita Global Marketing and Smart Mobile Solutions to support the Annie Dawson Home for children is indeed very timely and answers our prayers. These are tough and challenging times for those of us who have taken the bold step to engage in a ministry with children and teens with minimal resources.”

This donation will provide the home with the essential tools to access educational resources and opportunities in the digital age.

The home currently cares for approximately 30 children ages ranging from 7 to 18 years. The donation comes at a time when the home has been facing challenges with available devices and connectivity which has placed the students within its care at a significant disadvantage.

In discovering the home’s challenges, the CEO of DGM, Kemal Brown was compelled to assist.

“We are elated to support Annie Dawson’s Children’s Home in their mission to provide a nurturing environment for vulnerable youth,” said Brown who also shared that the internet is not just a tool for entertainment and accessing information but a gateway to endless opportunities for personal and professional growth. “By investing in internet connectivity and technology, we hope to make a meaningful difference in the lives of these children,” he continued.

Chief executive officer of SMS Dane Spencer who handed over 15 Alcatel 9032 tablets to the children’s home said he was elated to participate in this act of philanthropy.

“By providing them with these tablets, we are not only supplementing their education; we are opening doors to a world of possibilities. From coding and digital literacy to creative expression and entrepreneurship, these tablets will enable the children to build life-changing skills that will serve them well into the future,” Spencer said.
