Chinese President, Xi Jinping and his Cuban counterpart, Miguel Díaz-Canel have committed to both countries forging even greater ties than currently existing.

The two presidents have exchanged letters committing to working even closer together. President Xi as well the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee have replied to a letter from former Cuban President, Raul Castro Ruz, now first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and current Cuban President, Miguel Diaz-Canel.

President Xi’s letter thanked the Cuban leaders for congratulating China’s complete victory in its battle against extreme poverty. In the letter, Xi highlighted China’s relationship with Cuba, saying that the two countries are good friends, good comrades and good brothers.

China and Cuba relations have deepened in recent years

In recent years, the traditional friendship between China and Cuba has deepened and friendly cooperation has developed in an all-around way, the letter said.

Noting that the two countries stood together and joined hands to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, Xi wrote about its significant impact on the friendship between the two countries.

The Chinese President reiterated China’s continued support of Cuba along its path to socialist development and vowed to push forward bilateral ties to a new stage. In the letter to President Xi, Castro and Díaz-Canel spoke highly of China’s remarkable achievement in eradicating absolute poverty.

The two Cuban leaders also reaffirmed the country’s commitment to further developing a friendly cooperative relationship with China.
