There has been no phone conversation between the heads of state of China and the United States recently, and the two sides have not held consultations or negotiations on tariffs, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said on Monday.

Spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks at a regular press briefing when responding to a media query.

Guo said China’s position on the tariff war is abundantly clear. Tariff and trade wars have no winners.

“If a negotiated solution is truly what the US wants, it should stop threatening and blackmailing China, and seek dialogue based on equality, respect and mutual benefit,” he added.

Reading Time: 3 minutesMinister of Education, Skills, Youth and Information Dana Morris Dixon said governance and the focus that the Education Transformation Oversight Committee (ETOC) has placed on schools is extremely important.

She stated that strong schools do not exist without strong leadership, and so the boards and principals are important. “So when you see some of what we are doing, it is because we want to strengthen the governance framework. You’re going to see a lot more of that happening. We’re also looking at our principals too and the training that a principal needs,” she said.
