China’s 2025 summer box office, including pre-sales, has exceeded ¥7 billion (about US$979 million) as of 9:28 pm on Sunday (August 3), according to an online box office tracker.

Dead To Rights‘, a film about the Nanjing Massacre, has maintained its dominance at the box office, grossing over ¥1.5 billion (about US$210 million) within just 10 days of its July 25 debut.

Driven largely by the film’s success, the nation’s single-day box office revenue during the ongoing summer movie period from June 1 to August 31 hit a record ¥380 million on Sunday, signalling a strong surge in market momentum, per data from ticketing platforms Maoyan and Beacon.

The local comedy ‘The Lychee Road‘ secured second place with ¥623 million, with Universal Studios’ ‘Jurassic World Rebirth‘ coming in third at ¥555 million.
