A Clarendon lottery scammer pleaded guilty to breaches of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transaction) Special Provisions Act, when he appeared before the May Pen Circuit Court on Thursday (January 11).

He is 27-year-old Jermaine Gabriel, a building contractor of Peckham, Frankfield, in the parish.

Reports are that Gabriel was arrested after an operation carried out by members of the Lottery Scam Task Force at his home.

The officials state that during a search of Gabriel’s cell phone, they found several files containing the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of persons believed to be residing overseas, phone calls with overseas area codes, and banking information.

Additionally, the lawmen found receipts showing money collected from unsuspected victims whom Gabriel tricked into believing that they had won a prize.

Subsequently, he was arrested and charged with possession of identity information, possession of an access device, and obtaining money by false pretence.

The accused is scheduled to appear for sentencing on January 29.
